I use the family photograph as a vehicle for creating my family’s past. My images are composites and by taking images of the family and rearranging them, I am able to investigate past and desired scenarios. These scenarios are based on my parents’ 30-year marriage, which ended with a long, bitter divorce, and explore how their interactions have affected our family. By compositing my images, I highlight and make visible the tensions that exist beneath the apparently transparent daily activities.
